Featuring new modeling technology refined since the original MG Hi-Nu Gundam release, this Ver. Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Gundam series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Gundam kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

    Frequently Asked Questions

I've been diving deep into the world of Gundam. Is Char's Counterattack a pivotal series in the Gundam saga?

You're in for a treat! Char's Counterattack isn't just another series; it's a crescendo to the longstanding rivalry between Amuro and Char. Essential? Absolutely. It adds rich layers to the Gundam narrative and is a must-watch for enthusiasts wanting a deeper understanding of the saga.

I'm all about those iconic mobile suit designs. Does Char's Counterattack introduce any memorable ones?

Without a doubt! Char's Counterattack brings to the stage the Nu Gundam and the Sazabi, both of which are sheer masterpieces in mobile suit design. If you're a fan of intricate and iconic mecha, this series will leave you more than satisfied.

How does the animation quality hold up in Char's Counterattack, given its age?

While Char's Counterattack might hail from an earlier era of animation, its quality is timeless. Bandai and Sunrise poured a lot into this production, and it shines through. The battles? Oh, they're breathtaking, and the character designs stay true to the Gundam legacy.

I've heard a lot about Amuro and Char. Does this series give a definitive conclusion to their story?

Char's Counterattack serves as the dramatic culmination of the saga between Amuro and Char. Their entwined fates come to a head in this series, giving fans a resolution they've been yearning for. Trust us, it's epic.

I'm keen on diving in, but I've missed a few series before this. Will I be lost watching Char's Counterattack?

While Char's Counterattack does beautifully as a standalone film, having some background on the Universal Century timeline, especially the earlier conflicts between Amuro and Char, will amplify your experience. But, even if you jump right in, the depth and drama of the story will surely captivate you.

This one made me thankful I have a small hobby vice

An incredibly beautiful if fiddly kit to put together, this kit mostly suffers from how much repeating there is. The six funnels of course, but also multiple other areas including both legs are constructed entire the same, so be prepared to see a lot of X2 symbols and keep the runners close by. The decals are also slightly irritating, with the funnels especially being a bit fiddly as you drape the large colour correcting decals over , though they look absolutely beautiful once fully completed. Having a small hobby vice helped immensely as it allowed me to hold pieces in place and use both hands and tools to move decals around as needed, especially on the large cyclinders on it's back. Definitely a kit you want to leave in it's completed sections while you put the decals on before finalising construction.
