Gundam Beginners Box - Ultimate

At Gundam Express Australia we understand that some customers are new to the model kit building hobby. A lot of new customers do not know where to start, in other words what you need in terms of what type of kit to begin with, what type of tools to choose etc....

So we have developed a few different options for you. We call them Beginner Boxes and they will assist you enter the hobby for the first time.

This ULTIMATE box is designed for those of you want to set yourself up with some amazing tools including the spectacular Dspiae ST-A 3.0 nippers which are used only to clean up flush to the part without causing any damage. There is another pair of nippers included that become your general cutting nippers.

Assembly Guide

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED
No Cement Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

No Painting Required

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Gundam series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Gundam kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

What's actually in the Beginner Box?

Great question! Each Beginner Box comes jam-packed with all you need to get started— from an Entry Grade (EG) Gundam model to essential tools like nippers and a hobby knife. As you level up to Value Plus, Deluxe, or Ultimate, you'll find upgraded items like sanding sponges and even a 22-piece modeller tool kit. It's a smooth, easy intro to the Gunpla world.

Do I need to buy glue or paint separately?

Nope, no need for that hassle! The models in our Beginner Boxes are moulded in full colour and snap together, making your experience smooth and simple. No glue or paint required, just pure building joy.

Are the instructions in English?

While the instructions may be in Japanese, the visuals are so clear and easy to follow that you'll have no trouble at all. It's all part of the fun, and hey, you might even pick up a couple of Japanese words along the way!

Is the Beginner Box suitable for kids?

Absolutely, it's a perfect gift for youngsters eager to dive into model building. Though some tools are sharp, so adult supervision is recommended. It's a fantastic way to bond and build something awesome together. We've seen at our Expo build workshops youngsters as young as 7 years old manage an Entry Grade build.

How do I choose between Value, Value Plus, Deluxe, and Ultimate?

It really comes down to your budget and how deep you want to dive into Gunpla building. The Value box is excellent for dipping your toes in. If you're after a more extensive kit with premium tools, go for the Deluxe or Ultimate. You'll highly recommend it to your mates, trust us!
