Key features
  1. Unique Dual-layered Armour Design. Gundam Vidar stands out with its dual-layered armor system, which is not only visually striking but also functional. This design, with armour panels that slide and move, allows for a more dynamic range of motion and poseability, offering builders an opportunity to display the Gundam in various combat-ready stances.
  2. Diverse Weaponry: One of Gundam Vidar's standout features is its impressive array of armaments. Apart from the standard rifle, the kit includes the Vidar's iconic Rapier-like swords, giving it a unique melee combat edge. The leg-mounted side blades are another hallmark of the Gundam Vidar, allowing it to engage enemies in close combat effectively.
  3. Highly Articulated Full Mechanics Inner Frame: Consistent with the Full Mechanics line, the Gundam Vidar boasts a detailed inner frame that reflects the mobile suit's mechanical intricacies. This feature ensures an enhanced level of articulation, allowing for dynamic poses and dioramas. The exposed parts of this inner frame, especially on the limbs, showcase the mechanical design ethos of the "Iron-Blooded Orphans" series.

When assembled and posed, the Bandai 1/100 Full Mechanics Gundam Vidar is a testament to the series' emphasis on mechanical realism combined with unique design aesthetics. It's a definitive piece for collectors and enthusiasts of the "Iron-Blooded Orphans" universe.

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Gundam series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Gundam kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the "Full Mechanics" line and the traditional Master Grade (MG) series for "Iron-Blooded Orphans"?

The "Full Mechanics" line is a unique category specific to "Iron-Blooded Orphans" that sits between the High Grade (HG) and Master Grade (MG) in terms of detail and complexity. While it's 1/100 scale like MG, it doesn't offer the same intricate inner frame details that MG kits typically boast. However, "Full Mechanics" kits still provide a detailed build experience, highlighting the unique mobile suit designs of the IBO series.

I've seen the Barbatos in various forms. Is it available in both "Full Mechanics" and Master Grade?

Yes, Barbatos, one of the signature mobile suits from the IBO series, has been made available in the "Full Mechanics" line showcasing its various iterations. Moreover, there's an MG version, the MG Barbatos, which provides an even more detailed and articulate representation of this iconic mobile suit.

Considering the design differences, which is more beginner-friendly: "Full Mechanics" or Master Grade from the IBO series?

If you're a beginner, the "Full Mechanics" line might be a more approachable starting point. While it offers a good level of detail, it doesn't delve into the intricacies and complexities that Master Grade kits can present. However, if you're up for a challenge and want a deep dive into Gunpla building, the MG kits are an excellent choice.

Are the accessories and weapons from the anime series accurately represented in both the "Full Mechanics" and MG kits?

Absolutely! Both lines pride themselves on capturing the essence of the "Iron-Blooded Orphans" series. You'll find weapons, armaments, and accessories true to the anime, ensuring your model accurately reflects its on-screen counterpart.

Do I need specialized tools or additional purchases for the decals and detailing on these kits?

Both "Full Mechanics" and Master Grade kits come with stickers or decals for detailing, and you'll achieve the best results using a pair of nippers and perhaps a hobby knife for clean part separation. For those who wish to delve deeper into detailing, panel lining pens and top coat sprays can enhance the final look, but these are optional.
