Key features

1. Dynamic Transformation:

The EX Valkylander's biggest draw is its ability to seamlessly transform between two distinct modes:

  • Land Mode: A powerful quadrupedal beast with heavy armor and sharp claws, perfect for rampaging across the battlefield.
  • Valkyrie Mode:SDBD:R EX Valkylander Valkyrie Mode

This back-and-forth transformation adds a whole new layer of playability and display options to the model.

2. Upgraded Design and Accessories:

The EX Valkylander builds upon the original SDBD:R Bulk Lander with several improvements:

  • Enhanced Articulation: More flexible joints in the legs, arms, and tail allow for a wider range of dynamic poses in both modes.
  • New Weapons: The included sword and shield add another dimension to Valkyrie mode's combat capabilities.
  • Sharper Details: The overall design features finer lines and paneling for a sleeker and more visually striking appearance.

These upgrades make the EX Valkylander a more refined and exciting Gunpla experience compared to its predecessor.

3. Beginner-Friendly Build:

Despite its intricate design, the EX Valkylander remains accessible to modelers of all skill levels:

  • Snap-fit assembly: No glue required, making it easy to put together even for newcomers to Gunpla.
  • Pre-colored parts: The majority of the plastic comes in multiple colors, eliminating the need for extensive painting.
  • Clear instructions: Bandai's well-known instruction manuals provide step-by-step guidance for a smooth building process.

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Gundam series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Gundam kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

This model looks intricate! Is the SDBD:R EX Valkylander suitable for beginners, or would it be better for experienced modelers?

While it's not the simplest Gunpla kit, the EX Valkylander can be tackled by dedicated beginners. The transformation involves some smaller parts and articulation points, so experience with construction can make it smoother. Consider your comfort level with detail and precise assembly.

What comes in the box besides the basic model? Does it have any cool weapons or customization options?

The EX Valkylander includes a sword and shield for its Valkyrie mode, along with foil stickers for extra detail. However, additional weapons or customization parts are typically sold separately. You can find expansion sets or use third-party options to personalize your model.

How big is the EX Valkylander when assembled, and how much articulation does it have?

Standing roughly 5.5 inches tall, the EX Valkylander boasts impressive posability in both its Landar and Valkyrie forms. Its limbs, tail, and head have good range of motion for dynamic posing and action scenes.

How are the plastic parts? Are the stickers easy to apply, or are they delicate and prone to tearing?

The EX Valkylander uses standard High-Grade Gunpla plastic, known for its decent durability and good detail. The stickers are foil for a shiny finish, but be careful during application as they can tear if not handled properly. Consider using hobby tools like tweezers for precise placement.

Is the EX Valkylander readily available? If not, are there similar models I can consider?

The EX Valkylander may be sold out in some stores, but check online retailers or hobby shops for availability. If it's out of stock, consider the original SDBD:R Bulk Lander as a starting point, or explore other Valkyrie-inspired Gunpla models like the HG Penelope or MG Valkyria.
