Assembly Guide

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Gundam series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Gundam kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

How detailed are the pre-painted parts in MODEROID kits

MODEROID kits from Good Smile Company feature partially pre-painted parts that allow the model to look impressive even with basic assembly. Here are some key details about the pre-painted aspects of MODEROID kits:- Colour-separated runners: The plastic parts come molded in different colours, separated onto different runners (sprues) based on the colours needed for the final model Pre-painted components:- Some parts of the kit come pre-painted, which helps achieve a more finished look without requiring additional painting by the builder Stickers included:- Many MODEROID kits come with stickers to add extra details and color accents Detailed design:- The kits feature intricate designs that look good out of the box, but can be further enhanced through additional painting if desired Easy assembly:- The combination of colour-separated parts and pre-painted components allows the model to look "amazing simply by being put together" Material quality:- MODEROID kits are made from PS (polystyrene) and hard ABS plastic, which contributes to the overall quality of the finished product

Do MODEROID kits come with any special tools for assembly

Standard plastic model kit tools like nippers, hobby knives, and glue may be helpful for assembly, but are not specifically included with the kits.

How does the articulation of MODEROID kits compare to other model kits

MODEROID kits offer decent articulation for their price point and target audience

How does the build time of MODEROID kits compare to other model kits

While exact build times aren't provided, it appears that MODEROID kits generally offer a quicker build experience compared to more complex model kit lines, but may take longer than very basic snap-fit kits. The build time would likely be closer to that of a typical High Grade Gunpla kit.

What skill level do I need to build a MODEROID kit?

MODEROID kits are designed to be accessible to a wide range of skill levels. The partially pre-painted parts and color-coded runners make assembly easier, even for beginners. However, these kits also offer plenty of opportunities for more experienced modelers to showcase their skills through additional painting and detailing.
