Maschinen Krieger (Ma.k)

Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K ZBV3000) is a science fiction universe created by Japanese artist and sculptor Kow Yokoyama in the 1980s. The franchise originally began as the science fiction series SF3D which ran as monthly installments in the Japanese hobby magazine. To develop the storyline, Kow Yokoyama collaborated with Hiroshi Ichimura as story editor and Kunitaka Imai as graphic designer. Assembly Guide

Skill Level.3. Basic modeling skills are essential. These kits are not recommended for beginners or children due to the high level of complexity of assembly and the sheer volume of parts. Experience in building more complex Gunpla models is recommended. Parental supervision is essential. A full set of hobby tools is recommended that includes, nippers, hobby knives, sandpaper, sanding sticks, files, buffing files, glues, tweezers, and decal adhesive/softener. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Gundam series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Gundam kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

"LUM-168 Camel" sounds unusual. What's it all about?

The LUM-168 Camel is a fictional lunar combat vehicle from the Maschinen Krieger universe. It's a rugged, multi-legged walker designed for lunar operations, featuring heavy armor, powerful legs, and various weapon options. Imagine a tank crossed with a spider adapted for the moon's surface!

Is it easy to build? I'm not exactly an expert modeler.

The 1/20 LUM-168 Camel kit is typically rated for intermediate or experienced modelers. It might have small parts and delicate details requiring patience and some prior experience. However, online guides and reviews can offer helpful tips and tutorials, and the click-fit design can sometimes simplify assembly.

Does it come pre-painted, or do I need to paint it myself?

Most 1/20 LUM-168 Camel kits require painting for full customization. Some might offer pre-painted versions or specific color schemes, but be sure to check the product description for details. Painting your own Camel gives you creative freedom and adds a personal touch to your model.

What kind of weapons does it have?

The Camel's armament varies depending on the specific kit version. You might find options like beam cannons, machine guns, missile launchers, and even mortar-like weapons. Some kits offer interchangeable weapons for customizing your Camel's fighting style.

How poseable is it? Can I put it in different action stances?

The Camel's legs have some articulation, allowing you to adjust their position for a bit of dynamism. However, it's primarily a static model rather than a fully customizable action figure. You can still create interesting poses within its limitations, like adjusting the leg angles and weapon positions for a striking display.
