Series Assembly Guide FAQ

Bandai 1/144 HGUC MSN-02 Zeong

The Zeong has been released in HGUC form! This kit features all the fixings of the suit in the anime, including the cables for the detachable hands! A display stand is also included, because it would be a little weird to have this displayed sitting on the ground. The kit is of course snap-together and pre-colored, so no paint or glue is required to complete it!

Assembly Guide

Skill Level.2 Basic modeling skills are required. Parental supervision may be required for younger children. These kits are generally suitable for beginner builders. A basic set of modeling tools are required including nippers, hobby knife, sanding sticks/paper, file, and tweezers. No glue is needed for the general assembly. Parts will need to be removed by using a pair of nippers and cutting the part away from the runner. Parts may require clean-up where they were removed from the runner.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are a snap together assembly and do not need plastic cement to complete. We always recommend having some plastic cement handy as a part of your modeler's tool kit. If you prefer to fix your model in a particular pose then plastic cement will work. Plastic cement is also perfect to use if a joint is loose. Apply plastic cement in a single thin layer and allow it to dry completely before test fitting. Re-apply more cement if necessary.

Gunpla (plastic model kits) are designed to be built and displayed without the need for painting. Kits are molded in different colours replicating the colours of the actual mecha from the Gundam series. A technique called colour separation, where multiple parts of the model are molded in different colours on the same sprue is also used. Gundam kits often include stickers or water-slide decals that can be applied to the model to enhance its appearance. Some Gunpla kits come with pre-painted parts or parts with pre-applied details, such as metallic or translucent finishes.

Many modelers still choose to paint their kits to customize and add further detail. Painting allows for more creativity and personalization, enabling modelers to achieve unique effects, weathering, and colour schemes that may not be available out of the box. However, the kits are designed to be enjoyable and visually appealing even without painting, making them accessible to a wide range of hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Zeong looks huge! Is it hard to build for beginners?

Don't let the size fool you! The HGUC Zeong uses snap-fit construction, meaning no glue needed. Its pre-colored emerald green parts make assembly straightforward, even for beginners. Plus, its large pieces are easier to handle than smaller, fiddly kits.

Does its size affect its poseability?

Surprisingly, the Zeong boasts good articulation despite its bulk. Its legs can be angled for stomping action, its head can turn menacingly, and its claws offer different gripping positions. You can create dynamic poses for your display case, even though it's a walking fortress.

Is the pre-colored green the only option, or can I customize it?

While the emerald green is iconic, the Zeong welcomes customization! You can: Add decals or stickers for unique markings and emblems. Hand-paint for personalized details, like weathering effects or battle damage. Modify with custom parts or accessories, like additional thrusters or claws.

What makes the Zeong unique compared to other mobile suits?

Forget bipedal Gundams! The Zeong is a walking behemoth, crushing enemies under its massive legs and dominating land and shelf space. Its pre-colored green armor and unique design make it a standout piece in any Gunpla collection.

Should I get the Zeong if I already have other mobile suits?

That depends! If you love unique designs and want a mobile suit that makes a statement, the Zeong is a must-have. Its size, pre-colored armor, beginner-friendly build, and customization options make it a conversation starter for any Gunpla shelf. Plus, it showcases the raw power of Zeon engineering.

A fantastic kit that looks amazing but is still easy enough for newer builders to tackle.
