There's no doubt HG Gundam dominate the list. High Grade Gunpla are suitable for all levels of Gunpla builders. They feature fewer parts but their design still offers a great range of motion and poseability. Their finished build size also means they don't take up too much shelf space when displaying. HG Gunpla are also some of the most affordable kits available. 

MG Gundam finished build size and level of detail are what makes them so popular. The larger parts make assemble smooth & simple. Most MG Gunpla have an inner frame which is assembled first and then armour is added. Master Grade kits contain a much larger number of parts than there smaller High Grade versions. 

RG Gundam were introduced by Bandai in 2010. If you love a lot of attention to detail, then these kits will be for you! The sheer number of parts is impressive and is the most of any Gunpla grade. RG Gunpla incorporates the best of the 3 grades: the MG Gundam inner frame, PG Gundam level of detail all packaged into a HG Gundam size. Probably not the ideal grade to start a Gundam journey.
